Join the Friends of Eagle River Nature Center for its 20th anniversary auction and awards ceremony, October Nights, set for 5:30-9 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. There will be music by the Midnight Sun Zombies and catering by A Casual Encounter. Auctioneer Rayne Reynolds will be on hand to auction off some great items that will help support the Eagle River Nature Center.
The awards portion of the evening begins at 7 p.m. The Friends of Eagle River will be recognizing the Bird Treatment and Learning Center as a nonprofit partner, and REI as a business partner.
Those being recognized for the enduring volunteer and support of the center include: Dean Davidson, trails and grounds; Dick Griffith, philanthropy; Liza Sanden, interpretive education; and Lee Thomison, IT operations. Without these individuals and organizations, the Nature Center could not serve its purpose in the community.
Tickets are $60 and include two beverages and hors d’oeuvres, and tables of eight are available. The dress is semiformal Alaskan. They can be purchased online at www.ernc.org.
